When we think about life insurance and what it can do for our family, we usually think about replacing the breadwinner’s income. That is logical and is a great place to start. But it’s not where the conversation should end. What about insurance on the stay-at-home mom or dad?

In the event of losing a loved one that is a stay-at-home parent, more responsibility is placed on the surviving parent. It’s tough for two adults to run the house, especially when it involves children. It’s even more difficult to do it alone. At some point, the surviving parent will have to go back to work.

Even if the stay-at-home parent didn’t necessarily bring in income, think about all the things they did for the family. Some of these we may take for granted, like taking the kids to school or sports, cleaning the house, buying the groceries, paying the bills or even just doing the laundry. These activities will still need to get done, but where do we find the time for them?

Having the proper insurance program on the stay-at-home parent is imperative and can help bridge the gap during this difficult time and finding our new normal. Proceeds from the life insurance program can bring someone in to help with the day-to-day necessities while we get back on our feet.
